The Maryland Bar Exam is a two day test,
consisting of two separate exams - the Maryland Written Test
and the Multistate Bar Exam. The Bar Exam is offered on
the last Tuesday and Wednesday during both February and July.
The first exam is the Maryland
Written Test, which is a 5-hour and 40-minute test consisting
of ten 25-minute essay questions and one 90-minute MPT
question. Essay questions are created by the Maryland
State Board of Law Examiners. MPT questions are created by the
National Conference of Bar Examiners. The Written Test accounts for approximately
2/3 of your overall grade.
The second exam is the Multistate
Bar Exam (MBE), created by the National Conference of Bar
Examiners, which is a 6-hour test consisting of 200 multiple-choice
questions. The MBE accounts for approximately 1/3 of your
overall grade.
